jec6
I thought this would be a worthwhile thread to start here. There are a lot of times where I see some interesting weather related phenomenon and grab a picture. I thinking everything from Sun Dogs and Rainbows to Shelf Clouds and Fog stacked up against a hill. This morning on my drive out to Leola, i saw this (inspired the thread). The fog was tucked into the bottom of the valley below the farm house with just the tops of trees poking up above. Made for a neat picture, I just wish I had something better than my blackberry to take it with.
jec6
Just to get the thread rolling, here is one from last winter when the water was still a bit warm, but the air was cold. A fog cloud rolled down the lake and crashed into the bluff. Morning Fog at the Bluff by Josh, on Flickr

jec6
The sky was pretty neat a few mins ago over downingtown with the clouds being very striated. Seeing the sun setting way to the west added to the interestingness.

jec6
Yesterday around 7:30pm, driving from Downingtown to KoP for a soccer game, this one massive cloud was to my North the whole time and nicely lit from the west. I thought it deserved a couple of cell phone pictures.
CameronCat
Yeah, saw that one from Phoenixville but didn't have any camera with me. Absolutely gorgeous in the evening sun. I also noticed some small and mid-size aircraft giving it wide berth.
jec6
Yesterday morning, in the Finger Lakes. The air temp was ~38f, the water temp was still a very comfortable 77F. Caused the lake to steam, it looked a bit like the hot springs in Yellowstone on a cool morning. There are some more pics of it on my Flickr site. CyphaPSU
Took this a couple of years ago in Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming. My wife and I were hiking in those mountains when this thunderstorm quickly appeared coming over the mountain tops. We were then pelted by a torrent of small hail for several minutes as we tried to race back down to the bottom of the mountain. It's a bit concerning when caught in a storm like that on a mostly-exposed trail. I was able to capture the storm as it exited to the east (to the right side). The mammatus was cool.
CyphaPSU
This is from last summer. At around 8,800 feet in elevation, Point Imperial is the highest overlook in Grand Canyon National Park--so the views are something to behold. It just so happened that a thunderstorm rolled eastward right through the canyon's length as I was there, giving me an amazing view of the lightning striking the canyon below. Thunderstorms in the Western US, with all the physical relief, seem so much more beautiful than what we get around here. Dramatic landscapes and the ability to see more of both the sky and land below probably have something to do with it!
jec6
It was neat watching the storm come over the hill this afternoon and all the boats trying to beat it home.

jec6
This has some really amazing imagery. Mostly satellite photos from space. My Dad sent it to me, I assume there are no copyright issues sharing it: New NASA Book Shares Beauty of Earth from Space Swirling white clouds, deep blue oceans and multicolored landscapes bring to life the pages of NASA's new 168-page book "Earth," a collection of dramatic images captured by Earth-observing satellites. jec6
Just a couple of pics of a healthy storm rolling in from the south west. I enjoy watching the defined rain line walk across the lake.

DelcoWx
I took this last night on my way home from my evening class at Villanova. I think this was the outflow from the storm up near Phoenixville. And yes, I was fully stopped at a red light. ☺️
