Not a bore at all. This thread is for pics! Plus some of us (like myself to California) have never been to other people's destinations.

For years, I've said "I'll never get to ____ (fill in the blank). If the opportunity presents itself and you are able to go, then consider it a bonus! I am glad others are able to go places that I am not, so like you say, please share!

this is Keuka Lake in the western half of the NY Finger Lakes

Love the Finger Lakes. Proposed to my wife in Watkins Glen State Park many moons ago.

One picture from the Park and another from Seneca lake southern point.

Its our favorite place in the world.  We have a little cottage up there and rent it out sometimes.  If you're ever looking for a place to stay drop me a note.

  • 4 weeks later...

A not so great picture of a rainbow I saw on my way home this evening, taken about 8:15 PM. On my cell phone (not smart phone). By the time I got home and got my digital camera out the rainbow had gone away. Darn. The set up is that rainbow happened after some thunderstorms passed through, it was still raining when I took the photo. Outside Flemington NJ

Wow, gorgeous. Trying to convince the gf to take a ride up there in the spring.

Well worth the drive. Spring is a great time to be there too as the water volume through the gorges will be greater and the views more spectacular.

If you are looking for a prime spot to stay for a few nights (the view from my 2nd picture) you can't go wrong here:

There is quite a drought up there right now.  We were at the Glen last weekend, it was the driest I've ever seen it.    Late spring is really a nice time, although the lake water is chilly if you're planning any water activities.   Early fall is excellent, as the water is still warm in the lakes, the wineries are harvesting and usually the gorges are flowing decently.  I don't know how the harvest or gorges will be this year due to the lack of precipitation.

If you decide to go up and want any recommendations for food/fun, etc.feel free to send me a private note.

Good info. We used to get up there a fair amount, then we had two kids. We've brought them up once but we are overdue for another trip. I love it there in the fall or late spring.

I was able to tag along with the inlaws at their timeshare in the Shenandoah Valley region of Virginia last week. Great views/trails all over the place. I witnessed some great storms that ironically never hit directly on any day but were basically forming overhead and strengthening as they headed east. I'll post some storm pics in another post.
