BeerandWXTogether
Will Adam give it a C simply because of the blizzard? Will phlwx give it a F because it snowed after the blizzard?
Chubbs
B - overall, above avg snow, temp + severe not a bad combo Dec - C, good for outdoor activities Jan - A, blizzard Feb - B, 7" of snow here, severe
Parsley
The good:-Blizzard with the highest one storm total I ever saw.-Snow cover for nearly one month straight after the blizzard. Replenished by the smaller Feb. events.-Surpassed seasonal average with just the handful of events we had.The meh:-Warm winter overall (I'm ok with this personally, although it did cause our few snow accumulations to get beat down fairly easily)-Only a few smaller events....would have liked a 2-3 moreThe ugly:-No snow until late January. Snowless December FTL.-Some major rain events with flash floodingOVERALL GRADE as of now: B(if we can grab a 2-6 inch event late next week I'd bumped it up to a B+)
Rainshadow
An E for effort given how the cards were stacked against it.
Boch23
From an overall weather event perspective. B+. From an actual winter perspective... C.
tombo82685
I gave it a B+, above normal snowfall. Top 5 blizzard. 2 big cold outbreaks, another moderate snow event. Saved on heating bills. Only downfall was warmth on christmas.
Harbourton
From a golf point of view - A From an uber El Nino perspective - B+
Coltsfan1217
Given the super nino, the fact we managed the greatest storm of my lifetime (born in Dec 98) gives it a B for me
stenbolt
December: A (snowless and warm) January, weeks 1-3: B+ (colder, but nearly snowless) January 22-23: F- (blizzard, with an average year's worth of snow in 30 hours) January, remainder: B (nearly snowless, warmup quickly melted snow cover) February: B- (below-average snowfall, some warm days) If the blizzard hadn't happened, it would've been a B+/A- winter thus far. Mitchg
B- blizzard saved it from a D-.
irishbri74
Dec -A. If ain't gonna snow, it might As well torch! Nothing like fishing without waders in knee deep water in the Atlantic in early Dec! Jan- A+ because who doesn't like 20"+ snowstorms! Feb - D. Severe storm saved it from an F. colonel_kurtz
Temps - F - 2nd warmest winter on record, if there was such a thing as an (F-) it would apply to this season Snow - B - no snow until the middle of JAN - only one warning criteria event - 20"+ Blizzard, bonus pts., bumps snow a full grade from C to a B Final - (C-)
famartin
Without the blizzard, this winter would get an F. But biggest storm for me ever brings grade up to B.
greg ralls
B. Anytime you get a top-5 blizzard, it's a good winter in my book.
chescowx
Can't give it more than a C+ only reason for + is the blizzard with temps like this and the fact we will finish with about 1/2 the normal amount of sub freezing lows - incredibly warm winter Nov +5.5 / Dec +14.0 / Jan +1.1 and Feb +2.
BeerandWXTogether
I'm the one vote for an A. Arguably my favorite winter ever. *Top 5 warmest on record, including 70+ at Christmas and numerous 60's. *One big snowstorm and a small number of PITA events that didn't impact much. *No real sustained lock/blocked cold. It got cold a few times but nothing too terrible. All in all, a great winter in my book. At least I know what winter in Raleigh (minus the 25" snowstorms) is like. Boch23
I'll add one negative. With the exception of the blizzard, I never received enough snow to fully cover my grass. Which takes around 2".
