Rainfall Trends (To the North)

Climatology question here, I'm probably using a small sample size, but it seems like in the majority of recent storm systems, the vast majority of rain falls to our north, generally from the Poconos up through the Adirondacks.  Is this a common phenomenon, or something unique to this particular spring?  I've lost count of the amount of times I've seen scattered storms around our neck of the woods and a giant chunk of rain moving through to our north.  Thanks in advance for answering!

also something to keep in mind is that a lot of the storms have been cutting to our north. Being closer to the storm they have had the better stratiform rain and storm chances
