MJO in phases 2 and 3 

 

- CFS weeklies  center trough in the east. 

 

Week 1 0

Week 2 -1

Week 3 -2

Week 4 -1 

 

He's really racking up those missed days from school  ;)

Not really. I mean, there are hints of high latitude blockiness across the entire Pacific. I wouldn't describe it as mapping directly onto the EPO area. It looks more Nino like than anything else, with higher heights around 50-60N and lower heights around 25-35N.

didn't it have a super nino last winter at this time last yr?

 

I put the comparison charts in the spring thread. The CFS2 didnt. I think that was a NASA press release about higher sea level correlating to a stronger nino not seen since 1997-8.  Could be a thread the needle winter. Low end high has been great, medium, high end high, well we can golf through the winter. I think I will be free.
