Summer 2023 Contest, Can Philly Do The GFS Proud & Hit 100F? Congratulations To FreshPrince!!!!

The second most anticipated thread of the year & the one to get us thru the summer.

As is typical the # of days with high temps of 90F or higher at PHL is the centerpiece.

But, we need tie breakers.

So in order we ask your skilled outlook on:

1) The number of days PHL hits a max temp of 90F or higher.

2) During that period, the number of days PHL has a minimum temperature >70F.  

3) Number of days with a heat index of >105F. This has to occur on an hourly ob only.  Can't catch every special or 5 minute ob.

For a climo hint over the last 30 years, the number of days of 90F or higher has averaged 30 days, the number of days of 71F or higher has averaged 37 and I have no clue on the heat index. That one, you are on your own.

Now, not to drag out the contest, we are only counting the number of days with lows >70 during the time period that the high reaches 90s.

In other words, the first 90 degree day was June 1st and last August 31st.  Any days with lows >70 before June 1st or after August 31st don't get into the count.  Granted I don't think it is many, but it is to give one some time at the start to get your forecasts in and not to drag the contest out for some freaky October day.

In honor of the pathetic winter of 2022-23 the first place prize is a white flag. Tom & I are mulling customizing the flag.  Not sure how that is going to work, if we just come up with an expression (Winter 2022-23, it was only 9 days away) or give you the chance to personalize yourself.  Want to see the time involved.  Anyway, guess early and often.

The contest ends when the first 90F day occurs in PHL or May 31st (I wish), whichever comes first.

I wasn’t sure by your response if you meant 105 or >105. I was letting them go, but then I started seeing responses with >104, so I cast a wide net to avoid any confusion on everyone’s part.
