The Annual Summer Contest With A Different Prize This Year !!!!! Andy Grabbed The Brass Weenie Mug; Rojojojo Is Thunderstorm Savvy

First Mount Holly begged us no tornadoes in this contest and for good measure keep hurricanes out of this.  ;)

First, you the contestants (majority rule) decide the prize, or more specifically what image goes on the mug of your prize.

The outlook criteria.  The first is the traditional number of 90 degree or higher days Philadelphia will have this year.  We look safe (he thinks) for a while, so the contest stays open until May 31st or the first 90 degree day.

The first tie breaker is the number of calendar days during that period from the first to last 90 degree day that Philadelphia Intl observed a thunderstorm. A 3 on the F6.  No CB north, ltgng S remarks.  Thunder in the observation.  Doesn't matter if there are 8  thunderstorms on that one day, it still counts as only one.  Conversely, one might get tripped by a thunderstorm occurring right at midnight, those are the breaks.

The second tie breaker is whoever enters the information first.  So if the closest to be right @Chubbs entered 55 90 degree days and 12 days with thunderstorms on May 3rd and @tombo82685 entered the same forecast on May 5th, @Chubbs wins! (well we all lose with 55 90 degree days, but that is another story.

Okay so get cracking and give us your best forecasts.  Also chose which image you want on your mug.

A) Heisey's two tickets to paradise radar image from 1/29

B ) A super weenie image ( @tombo82685 will pick an image if this wins.  This is just an example.78E24BBD-2850-4ED3-9827-FA32BCF80006.png.63af8b590be1a2d152846353b2c044c2.png

C) A picture of Tony's figs this upcoming summer.  Again example, my figs will be sooooo much better.

Good luck and may the best forecaster win !!!!!!!!!

I'll run with a total of 35 90F days and 30 thunder days.

I will want my winning mug to have ...  C - Figs   (They better be damn good Tony 😉 ) and IF, I say IF I win, the mug has to be full of fresh figs.

With the below detailed analysis I will go with:

34 days with 90+

18 with thunder

Weenie mug

Away from the heat island and with the recent trending to cooling 90+ day summers...my forecast for the Chesco area is

East Nantmeal - 3 days /  KMQS = 7 days and KPTW = 5 days

Seems like we've been over this a million times. All I have to do is pull up the old charts. The ChescoWx stations have different 90F stats and shouldn't be combined. Coatesville 2W matches phl very well. kmqs and E Nant are only available for a short period and don't have any discernible trends, no obvious differences with phl. KPTW has a bad sensor, with a big spike in 2010/11, and doesn't look like any other regional station. Other regional sites match phl.

Duly noted but I as always simply stick with the facts (highlight the sources) and analyze what we have...
