IF (and a big if) the latest 18z NAM is to be believed Monday's currently forecast of a sub-freezing high temperature would mark the latest day in recorded weather history for almost all Chester County NWS COOP locations going all the way back to 1894....that the thermometer failed to reach 32 degrees in a calendar year! The latest sub-freezing day in Western Chester County was the 32 degrees back on March 26, 2014.

I am not sure of what the record latest sub freezing low max is at PHL or other locations but....something unusual especially in our current warming cycle at least out here in Chester County!

Record low maxes likely in the northeast on monday.  Note that monday is a good day for records in the US, with record highs in the west (Table at top of figure).

Chadds Ford - March 19, 1956

Glenmoore - March 22, 2018

Octoraro Lake - March 21, 2018

Apr 1982 gets all the press & rightfully so because of the multi day region wide record snow & cold. Locally Apr 2003 was also very impressive particularly for the 4/8 max temps. With 3-6" of fresh snow on the ground from the prior day & overcast skies temps did not get out of the low-mid 30's for a large part of Bucks & adjacent Lehigh Valley, CNJ.

At Trenton (TTN) the high temp on 4/8/2003 was only 32 degrees.

Meridional flow?

Thursday to monday. Yes In the mid-continent, arctic air dropping south. Different regime in the west, not as much movement under a warm ridge.

We did indeed set the record for latest sub-freezing day in history across almost all long term NWS COOP reporting sites across Chester County today!

KMQS  and KOQN reached 32 degrees while KPTW could do no better than 30 degrees. Along with the record late cold... some snow squalls...including the below clip of a sun squall from late today in East Nantmeal
