It's only July & you're already in mid-winter form.

It’s been pretty clear the last few days that we’d be in or near the subsidence zone.  You win some you lose some.  Better now than in winter!

  * Effective this Thursday afternoon and evening from 210 PM until
     900 PM EDT.

   * Primary threats include...
Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible
Isolated large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible
     A tornado or two possible

SUMMARY...Scattered severe thunderstorms including a few supercells
should continue to develop and spread east-northeastward across the
region, particularly in vicinity of an effective boundary. Damaging
winds and severe hail are the primary concerns, although a tornado
   cannot be ruled out.

The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 55
statute miles north and south of a line from 30 miles west southwest
of Allentown PA to 15 miles north northeast of Groton CT. For a
complete depiction of the watch see the associated watch outline
   update (WOUS64 KWNS WOU1).

Radar looks pretty damn active to me. Whether it’s Elsa or just storms from the frontal boundary there is plenty going on the next 24 hours depending on location.

Frontal stuff should stay nw of our location to philly. Our chance is when Elsa gets closer. May get storms start to fire then. But this early stuff should be confined nw

Storms popping just BARELY west and north of me. Watched them grow as I was driving towards home on 130 and 45 south.  Had a few gigantic raindrops and some unexpectedly gusty winds at home but that was all. Hearing thunder now just to my north.
