marky1b 15
Mostly rain in West Philly, about an inch of slop on the sidewalks and shoulders. I chose this day to drive downtown for an appointment.

Event was downplayed as minor across networks. False sense of security, doesn’t take much anymore to get back ups and gridlock.

I guess this is a case when we know NW areas are going to see 4" of snow in 3-4 hours that "extreme wording" needs to be placed on that period of time. Otherwise, the average Joe think "Hmmmm.......3 inches of snow Monday???.....no big deal".

Parsley 6,141
Mixing here with lighter rates. 4.2" will do it. Nice event. Sirens blaring in the distance. Not good.
Mnhdude 41
In defense of the NWS, they did issue a special statement about heavy snow rates.

There seemed to be a lot of emphasis from the local TV networks - even for out where we live - on the change to rain, temps warming to near 40 degrees, main roads all being wet, etc. Less emphasis on the thump of heavy snow and what impact that would have while it was occurring.

We (weather enthusiasts) know that. Our neighbors.....probably not. That's the problem. I had to talk my neighbor out of going to an Dr. appt. at 1pm, this morning. When she called the office at 9am they told her "It's not even snowing". People are CLUELESS.
