colonel_kurtz 3,029
I wish Howie was also packing his bags, in fact based on his abysmal performance Roseman should have been fired in a matter of minutes after the season ended. Have to believe the Wentz situation was a factor here, good chance he'll be back now. Best news is Heisey won't have to change his screen name on the other board. ACwx 421
It needed to be done. The season was downright ugly, you could tell there was something wrong in the organization and it all came to a head in that final game. GM needs to go too, can't stay here any longer if you draft 1 Pro Bowl player in the last 6 years and it happens to be the guy everyone wants out of town right now. Legitimately do not know what to do about QB. I've been a huge Wentz defender even through 2019 season, but this year was shockingly bad. My hypothesis is he has a mental block and he should see a sports psychiatrist. He's healed from his injuries but literally looks lost on the field, it's all in his head. I think he really didn't like Jalen Hurts getting drafted last year. Hurts had 2 promising games and 2 not-so-promising ones, too small of a sample size to make a conclusion either way. And of course, having the team riddled with injuries FOR THE 3RD YEAR IN A ROW doesn't make decisions any easier. Here's to better days ahead. At least the Sixers look good this year.
Chubbs 3,478
When I was a young teen a friend had tickets and asked me to a game. We took the train and walked to Franklin Field. I don't remember anything about the game, even the opposition. All I can recall are sitting in the sun with 60,000 fans shouting - Joe must go, Joe must go. Joe Kuharich the most hated coach in eagle history.
SalemCountyNJ 386
I think Richie Kotite would get my vote for worst coach ever in Eagles history.
PreserveJon 207
I predict they will go back to the same well and woo Eric Bienemy. My dad thinks they may go for a defensive minded coach and hire an OC to handle that part. I countered that such an approach rarely seems to work outside New England and Baltimore. The last game of the Joe Kuharich era was arguably the most infamous in Philadelphia fan history. As Ray Didinger pointed out what was originally a blip in the press story the following day has grown into legend & is still parroted to this day. There is certainly a lot of context to the event as well as an embellishment of the actual proceedings. The article below is an example, "immense amount of snowfall the day before", reality was that PHL only reported 2.6" of snow & the most I could find reported anywhere in the immediate metro area was 5". https://www.thedp.com/article/2020/12/penn-football-franklin-field-eagles-santa#:~:text=The most notorious is arguably,15%2C 1968. https://www.espn.com/radio/play/_/id/28368015 Regarding your game if the fans were chanting Joe must go it was most likely during that 1968 season. Thanks for the article. I don't know about worst coach but Kuharich was definitely the most hated, for 5 long seasons.

The amount of injuries tells me something about the conditioning coaches. We can all say 'cause COVID' this year, but the Eagles had more injuries and more repetitive injuries than virtually any other team.

I thought I heard a year or two ago they hired a new medical staff, but I may be wrong and that could be unrelated. In the Saints game I remember the TV analyst in disbelief saying "I've never seen anything like this" as our defense had 4-5 injuries in the span of about 5 minutes. I know the team is aging, but the amount of injuries the Eagles have sustained is next-level.

Ben McAdoo, Adam Gase, Hue Jackson, Dirk Koetter & Mike Mularkey were all ahead of him on the Eagles wish list - LOL. After Doug's initial 7-9 season the Eagles went so as to interview Jim Schwartz & it was just reported that they pressed Pederson to fire Frank Reich. The Eagles front office continued to undercut Pederson by embarrassing him last year with the forced out of Mike Groh & apparently again this week with the rejection of Pederson's choice of Press Taylor as OC. While it's clear that Doug, like most of the organization, really underwhelmed this season he still deserved one more year at the helm and if you were going to give him the boot then Howie also needed to be on that same bus out of town. To quote Bob Hope "thanks for the memory", the SB Bowl run & subsequent parade will never be forgotten.

eastonwx 792
Likewise, thought Duce would be the guy but I don't hate the hire. Let's be honest: Lurie/Roseman were going to hire someone who can "fix" Wentz. My guess is they know enough about Duce to know he wasn't going to be able to do that. Sirianni is a young guy with (hopefully) progressive ideas for the offense. Plus he was a pretty good receiver in college, so hopefully he can get those guys going.
