April/May Weather Pattern Discussion, Same Old, Same Old?

Recommended Posts

I started a new pattern discussion for anything in April & beyond.

I have read a couple of statistical studies (I cant vouch for the authors) on the Coronavirus not surviving as well in warmer and particular more humid conditions, so bring on the humidity.  Australian cases are rising, then again they are not humid.

Watch this be the 1 time this season that the long-range Euro showing a cold pattern actually verifies, only because now it's too warm to snow and since we're actually looking for warmth, it won't come on time.

It would do a number on fruit trees too.

getting more consistent on runs

fwiw, the big March 18-21 58 snow bookended on the 6-10 analog list.  3/22/58 also #2 on the 8-14 day list. Haven't checked the other analogs.

It's a beautiful block.  What most of us expected would happen for it to show up too late

I'm so exhausted by Yawnter 2020 and current events that I can't even post anything snarky. Keeping my fingers crossed for the PA folks who are wishing for snow.

Pretty much the same for me.  I am spending some much time trying to find some good news out there that I have no energy left to do the weeklies and the oh yeah the GEFS ends with below normal 850mb temp anomalies for the 23,796th time in a row.

Keep up the good fight, Tony

Hopefully not June 15

Normally I'd be popping a pole bean gasket of the pattern getting Saprilish after the winter we have had. But this year, it doesn't really matter.  There used to be some weak correlation between a cooler April and cooler summer.  The way we are now, I guess that translates to a cooler April and a non record breaking hot summer.

EPS aren't biting on that. They have the start of next week above normal before we go back to normal or below

Near normal or just below by mid-April is tolerable. Don’t need it 85 degrees, or for that matter 43 with rain either.
