Rainshadow
Seeing that 105F predicted for 7/1 by the Euro made me wonder when their next upgrade is going to be: 6/30. https://confluence.ecmwf.int/display/FCST/Implementation+of+IFS+Cycle+47r1
Rainshadow
With the initial operational implementation of FV3GFS now accomplished, EMC's global modeling focus will turn towards development of the next GFS (v16) upgrade, which is expected to include increased vertical resolution, more advanced physics, data assimilation system upgrades, and coupling to a wave model. Implementation of GFSv16 is targeted for the winter of 2021. It is available on tropical tidbits.

Me thinks they will have to correct the central pressure of tropical systems.

There are some head scratchers that it comes up with even it scores better. The tropical systems looked like they were all back to Cat VI again. I hope we finally put to bed the 120 hrs of constant pcpn forecasts we get with the current GFS.
Rainshadow
I have winter evaluation on it: I could see why NHC is so-so on it. Looks like the GGEM at calling 45 out of the last 17 tropical systems. MEG_8-27-20_GFSv16_WinterWx.pptx
