I typically dislike snow quite a bit. However, my mom passed away this morning and the constant bursts of flurries were welcome. My kids said they were grandma kisses. I'm in Bensalem now with beautiful sunshine, a welcome sight after all of the gray skies.

Really sorry to hear about your mom. I’m glad the “grandma kisses” are providing a little comfort.

I'm so sorry to hear this. It's difficult to lose a parent and life is not the same afterwards.

0.08" of rain overnight - our 1st measurable precipitation of the year in Western Chesco

Overnight low was just 42.0 - almost 4 degrees above our normal high temp - would say my forecast for January may go the same way as December....

We aren’t alone. One of the most deflating visits to upstate NY I can remember in terms of snow between Christmas and New Years. This was about 25 miles southeast of Syracuse. Pictures are from “raging” Chittenango Falls, Pratt’s Falls and Cazenovia Lake. Luckily saw some snow toward the end of my visit. But outside of the squall, minor stuff.

Not only is this pattern about as lousy as one can envision, similar to last winter where we averaged one sunny day a week at best, we are in cycle where the day after day dreary crap straddles the weekend.    Looks like we're gearing up for next weekend already:

Friday
A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 51. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Friday Night
A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 44. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
Saturday
Rain likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 56.
