Phillies and 76ers are getting busy, and now it's the Eagles turn

I hear the 70s and 80s were pretty exciting (I'm too young to have seen it myself), but this has to be one of the greatest times in history to be a Philly sports fan. You've got an Eagles team that looks to be Superbowl contenders for the next 5-10 years, a Sixers team with several All-Star franchise players in their early 20s, a Phillies team that has shown a lot of improvement and is still up-and-coming, and a Flyers team that has caught fire and has a 20-year old goalie prodigy. Can't ask for much more than that.

Sixers will never be able to keep Butler and Tobias next year - both are free agents next year. Good draft picks are virtually gone. Better win this year.

Butler walks Tobias stays and they can sign more players in the off season. The only draft pick they gave up that has a chance at being a decent player is the 2020 unprotected pick via Miami.   Haven’t all Sixers fans learned that most draft picks outside of the lottery are usually marginal players and that guarantees mediocrity.  Even being in the lottery every year doesn’t guarantee you success.  (Okafor, Fultz).

The 1980 NL Championship series between the Phillies and Astros was some of the most exciting baseball I can remember.  Hopefully we can look forward to a good run from this organization again..

FWIW, looks like this is not some 1 year rental, they will try to retain Jimmy Butler and Tobias Harris:

Sixers GM Elton Brand said the team plans to retain Butler and Harris, who are both playing the final years of their contracts.

"I've gotten all assurances from the managing partners that we can bring them back and sign them for whatever it takes to sign them. We want to keep this core long term," Brand said.

Yeah, the 76ers are definitely built to win now.  Now, it all comes down to coaching, and how you balance all of this talent.  It's crazy to me that Golden State is a 1:3 favorite to wi the title, and the next closest is I believe Toronto at 10:1 or something.  I do notice the Sixers have won a ton of fairly close games this year.
