Nice. I have a cannon t5i with 18mp.... It works well. I used a tripod too, 1/300 aperture setting and iso800. seems to have worked well. Still getting used to this photography stuff. Each environment is like re learning my camera. since your using a tripod set your camera to 2 sec. timer, go into manual mode, iso 100, f11 then try various shutter speeds to get the correct light. since your on a tripod you wont need iso 800.
