While the weather in the Mid-Atlantic is nothing if not variable, regardless of temperature it seems as though we've been stuck in a persistent gloom of cloud cover.  I don't know where to locate percentage of cloud cover statistics, but I'd be willing to wager as a region, we're well above normal in the overcast category.  Nonetheless, looks like the sun will shine today at some point.

I am sure it is. But I look at nothing but 100% OVC guidance by the GFS from now until 2027 so even if the sun comes out for an hour each day, it is more than cough predicted.

If anyone is wondering about a staffing update at WFO Mount Holly it is getting better. The MIC position was advertised and someone should be arriving in the fall/winter. Walt Drag retired but they are going to fill his position this month with that person arriving sometime in the fall/winter as well. My position vacated was already filled along with another entry level with two new hires back in the spring. Normal or close to normal staffing is a possibility by the start of 2019.

Monthly climo reports have some charted info I always look back on after the months ends. Sky cover % and days with rainfall can paint a good picture. From my experience, if the day wasn’t “CLEAR” it was likely partly to mostly cloudy and anything in the the 8-10 CLOUDY scale was downright gloomy.

So May in Allentown had less than 10 “sunny” days along with 10 days featuring “legit” 0.10”+ measurable rain. That’s pretty crappy.

If you're looking for a way to celebrate the solstice, and live near the Main Line, come join me for some live music tonight from 6-8 PM at Whole Foods Devon. They have plenty of beer and will be grilling while I'll be strumming my acoustic guitar and singing some favorites.

Inside the sitting area or out in front?

Sorry, didn't see this in time. It's outside on the sidewalk, but it's shaded. I'm back there on 8/23 if anyone is interested and they have live music from 6-8 every Thursday all summer long.

My wife and I bought a smoker. So far we've done pulled pork twice and one pork tenderloin. I'm hoping to try ribs next week when I'm on vacation. The attached pictures of our first pulled pork. During the rest period, we stuck the tray of macaroni and cheese in the smoker to give it some more flavor too.

I usually just do simple and traditional burgers and dogs for the Fourth. Decided to even go with a traditional American beer, Budweiser, which I almost never drink unless I am forced to [emoji57]

Was worried we’d get rained out but watched (on Dover radar) the storms shrivel up from NE to SW just to the west of Lower Bucks.

This is so cool.  This came from a friend forecaster of mine from the Brookhaven office.  I don't which ocean is which, but I choose the bluer one:

BTW The clip was filmed during the southern summer, with a particularly calm sea near the southern tip of South America, located at Tierra del  Fuego, Chile.

Wow, that really is bizzare and very interesting.  Tony, thanks for sharing this. Tyler
