Parsley
There is no correct answer. Just your opinion. Some like to weigh cold and snow into their winter evaluation, others just care about snow, or prolonged snowcover, etc... Personally, I don't need to be wowed by bitter cold and record lows in a winter. My grade will be based primarily on snow. In terms of temperatures I'll remember the cold shots earlier in winter and crazy warmth in February. Snowfalls occurred on a fairly regular basis starting in December. IMBY all snow events December through February were on the small to moderate side, none exceeding 5". March has obviously been phenomenal with 3 events surpassing any of my December through February snow events. My breakdown (# of measureable events): 44.8" total December: 10.7" (5) January: 6.2" (4) February: 5.3" (3) March 22.6" (5) My final grade for this winter will be a: B+ Room for improvement would have been heavier snow events earlier in winter and of course an even higher seasonal total. I'd prefer my snowiest month to occur in January or February rather than March.
Feb
Was always on the western edge this winter until the last storm. That managed to bring the season total up to 35” and saved a D- grade. So taking all things into consideration, including a very warm February I give winter here a B-
cg41386
All things considered, not a bad winter here. Had a bit in December, first week of January along with that cold, March was pretty awesome. Definitely earns a B+.
CameronCat
The older I get the less I like cold weather. Also, cleaning up large snow storms gets to be a chore. This winter played fair with me: mostly small snows that didn't require a lot of effort or inconvenience and only one blast of stupid-cold temps. Final grade: B (Recommended; a good model for future winters.)
rafpsu
Like Feb, I was on the wrong side of the western edge a little too often for the coastal storms but locally jackpotted with the 12/7/17 and 2/17/18 storms. I would have preferred a longer lasting snow cover through the holiday season but that’s really a rarity. March was frustrating (for a snow lover) out here in western Berks but the 3/21 storm helped make up for that. Overall snow in Berks was a bit above average so I’ll grade snow a B. As for temps, I don’t need bitter cold but I like it consistently cold enough for snow threats with below freezing temps at night to help keep plants/trees dormant through March (no trees blooming in winter!). In spite of 80s in February, that’s going to be the case this year, plus bonus points for the cold holiday period, so temps get a B+. Overall we’ll round up to a B+ for the winter.
Mitchg
I seriously would hold off till after April 15th, EC still has several inches on the EPS mean even down to PHI.

When I saw the title of this post I thought the same thing. Might be a little premature to call it now, given we got about an 1.5" of snow Sunday morning. I think "Ma Nature" has enough for one more shot of measurable snow over the next couple of weeks.
Rainshadow
B. The student was getting a little lazy in the middle of the semester, but did great on his finals.

Chubbs
I'll go B primarily for above average snow. Lots of tracking action from Dec to March but also missed opportunities as we never put it all together for a big snow (>10") in my area. As a whole temps were near normal due to a warm Feb (phl: Dec -1.4, Jan -0.2, Feb +6.2, Mar -4.2), which is pretty good considering how warm it has been in the past couple of years. Like others would have preferred more winter in Jan and Feb and less in late March.

Honestly, at this point no snow other than perhaps a 8+” April bomb (like I witnessed on 4-9-96) would bump my grade up. I’ve about maxed out my excitement on these “spring snows”. They melt too quick so I doubt my grade would go up no matter what. All and all a very satisfying and prolonged snow window this season. Up there in NY you’ll see flakes into May. I remember measurable snow one week before my college graduation in western NY.
iceman56
Going B+ - wish the cold and snow would have coincided better to prolong good snow cover and turn those -1 temperatures into -10's. An April surprise could push that grade higher.
NEchestercountydude
B+. 10"+above my average snow totals, awesome cold period during the end of Dec - early Jan. Wasn't a great snow cover season though. All in all, two great periods, surrounding one crappy. Very satisfied!
TTNwatcher
A-. Personally the Dec Sat snow was a perfect lead into Xmas, besides being a lovely snow to watch and be out in. Multiple other good hits during the season (2-3in/hr, Mar hit). Objectively, so many great runs to watch unfold, even if, as usual, many did not pan out. Only missing a big big storm with followup supercold for top marks.
Rojojojo
B December was almost a knock out, with the warm spike surrounding Christmas day itself keeping it from an A+. Love the snowfall that time of the year, long duration fluffy snow on a Saturday while out and about Christmas shopping made it even better. Several small systems that month kept replenishing a perfect holiday dusting. January sucked, super cold but very little snow made it a boring, brown/gray month. February was alright. No snow but lots of warmth, which I start to want once Valentine's Day is over. I have mixed feelings about March. I hate (and I mean hate) springtime in Philadelphia. It doesn't get warm until May or June, and every April I curse myself (but not really, but kinda) for leaving the South. That said, if it's going to be cold, it may as well snow, and March delivered a couple wild, wet, quick-hitting snowstorms for the city. Were they sloppy? Sure. But sloppy snow sure as hell beats 45 degrees, gray, and windy. So I give it a B. Great start to the season, wild end to the season, not a standout winter by any means, but all in all the city had at least four ankle-deep snows, which is a solid performance.
Baseball0618
B+. Easy A if we had the larger events in January and February versus March so the snow could hang around longer.
Boch23
Solid A- IMBY for me personally. Awesome December with multiple snow events including snow showers Christmas morning. Good amount of cold in January although couldn’t break that below zero mark. Only got down to about 1. I never shy away from record warmth in the Winter so 70s in Feb was a good change of pace.....granted paying for it now. March- nothing else really needs to be said here. Best March I can remember in my lifetime. Ended up with over 40” on the season. No noticeable icing events was also a plus. Things that would be needed for an A/A+: Storm over 12”Severe tstorm watch and/or a shelf cloud to end the warm spell in FebHitting 0 or going below. Should add any snow after April 1st will lower the grade [emoji1]
colonel_kurtz
How do you offset a (50) day stretch from 1/11 - 3/1 that averaged 6.2 above normal with only a little over 4" of snow? A hideous period through the heart of winter that torched with (22) 50+ & (10) 60+ days??? Well above average DEC snow, bonus for NYE snow The coldest late DEC / early JAN Barney attack in many, many years culminating with a below zero morning 2 double digit snowstorms thunder snow 2-3"+ rates Over 40" for the season B+
susqushawn
B. Would be B+ but Feb and I learned insurance will not cover the repairs on the bus we prematurely drove off a cliff mid-winter.
