eastonwx
AM low of 21F here...hoping for higher ratios...will elevation be a factor with this storm?

Yes. But I think more so in marginal areas. The wind is predicted to howl aloft, I don't think ratios can do much better than around 10:1.

It's somewhat comforting to know it's not just me. My backyard lawn was lush most of the growing season and now it looks like we hosted a music festival back there... 37 here, and dreary

Great for moisture retention in summer (which I appreciate for the gardens and grass), but awful the other 3 seasons.

tombo82685
Just now, Rockchops said: naturally in the hole... alot of that isn't reaching the ground. A lot of dry air aloft, while it will eat some of the precip, it will also help temps to fall fast once it starts

mshaffer526
Still would get an inch or two, but that HRRR is full-blown panic button. I remember earlier this winter when the HRRR doused dry air all over a snow event, even as most models showed more significant QPF right up until the actual show.
