Overunning to possible thump of snow? Feb 2/10-12

Snowing in Mt. Laurel NJ as of 10:20 pm -- the snow is sticking on pavement. Can someone help this novice understand why snow sticking now may lead to more snow later? (That's how I'm interpreting comments from the past two pages or so). Thanks in advance for the insight - this forum is turning snow-day-craving students (and teachers) into budding meteorologists.
