well, there is only one way to go with this model I'd think. 

 

Ever since the one "improvement" near 2000 that resulted in erroneous bombogenetic storms along the Gulf Stream, they have been unable to get back to the eta worthy of the DT "EE Rule". Part of the problem from conversations has been that its too dry west of us and its been hard to get a positive improvement in most of the conus with each subsequent upgrade.

It was 5 degrees too cold. Had ice from Reading northeast into NJ.

It had that greater than one foot of snow run too along entire I95, maybe the delay is not a bad idea.

I don't know how they do it, but ncep is not running the old nam. I am wag they, tropical, are postprossessing the grib files to 12km & 32km.
