Trails were torn up as they were putting new pipes in for the snow guns. Quite a project.

Which resort is that?

Oh cool, I never really knew where Massanutten was down there.  As a kid I used to ski race against kids from the Massanutten ski team in the Mid-Atlantic championships.

Cool. Yeah it’s about 10 miles east of the I-81 exit for Harrisonburg.

Just got back from a short trip to the Adirondacks, took this photo this morning at Roaring Brook Falls.  I may have more to post later.

Wife surprised me with a quick getaway for my birthday down to the Eastern Shore of Maryland along the Chesapeake.

We stayed in a beautiful inn in Rock Hall, MD. Amazingly, we avoided rain Sunday and Monday except for what fell overnight. The view from our balcony allowed us to watch Osprey in and around their nests.

Nice birthday gift!  Always great when anyone goes out of their way for you, even a spouse! Happy B-day!

Took a bit of a hike to get there this past Sunday, but I was rewarded by seeing rain plumes make their way across the Adirondacks

Man, you and Qtown may have to battle it out for best photographer on phillywx. Great pics. Adirondacks are beautiful and really not that far of a drive when you consider it's primarily highways from here to there.

Thanks for the compliment, it’s just a hobby. You’re right about how close the A-dacks are via highways. Close enough that I decided to make two short trips in one week last week (one with my wife and the other with a college buddy, haha).

The blue one looks like someone’s pet parakeet that escaped!

This was from my backyard last night, took a half hour exposure.  The bright straight line is from an Airbus 320 taking off from KTTN, the dimmer straight lines in the bottom left corner were several planes on approach to Newark (at about 9,000 ft).

Weekend hiking in Shenandoah. We got caught in a heavy thunderstorm out on the trail but the low clouds in late afternoon were such a wonderful treat! Last pic was a 6am hike to the summit of the highest point in the park. About as good as it gets on the east coast.981aed9778db282e878aa2d49ec80315.jpgb982aa78a22b1e357f9e2ab71912c9e5.jpg44e02f2a9d207045f936c168364613be.jpg9a2d047833d98e5c9595dff470ca72ea.jpg

I kind of dig this one (especially since the sky was actually clear and not pouring rain like it seems to have incessantly been here).

This is a 25 second exposure of the night sky showing the colors of our galaxy.  I shot this on my back patio up in the finger lakes.  The night sky is a different place without light pollution.

Here's a second one from a slightly different angle with 15 second shutter.  I didn't notice the airplane when I first took the shot.  It was waaaaayyyy up there.
