Major Hurricane Maria Tracked Over St. Croix & Puerto Rico & Now...?

Recommended Posts

That is an absolute nightmare for some of those areas that were wrecked by Irma.  Thinking Virgin Islands in particular.

I know.  Its as if someone said, well at least St. Croix was spared and then Maria comes along and says dont worry, I'll take care of that.  :(:(:(

Well, if the GFS's right of track bias continues with Maria, at least this 'cane would trend away from hitting the Irma devastated places the hardest.

Jose could be blessing in disguise as he could provide the escape hatch for Maria if he doesn't scoot out. If he stalls or loops back chance are pretty good Maria gets punted

This was 9/17/00z Euro,  not looking good at all for the islands hit by Irma.  Other black line is Jose.

Are there any threats to the gulf coast from this hurricane? We are headed to tampa on wednesday for 2 weeks.

The threat is not zero.  It seems that if Jose acts like a gentleman and waits, it leaves an escape channel for Maria.   If not.....

If you were saying Myrtle Beach or Savannah the chances look better (or is that worse?).

Were not looking to chase a hurricane, so anywhere  on the east coast is fine.  We lucked out with irma, no damage.

Thanks

Not that the EPS are gospel, but only 2 of them have a landfall, the rest get punted

Some of the models have something trying to make its way into the gulf next week, so keep and eye out on that.

http://www.meteofrance.gp/previsions-meteo-antilles-guyane/animation/satellite/antilles-guyane

This link is time sensitive but when posted it showed the eye of Maria hitting Dominica. Incredible, the eye forms and then blasts right over Dominica, what are the odds? And if you look really closely you'll see that instead of maintaining its path and going straight over the island at its original vector, it jogs a tiny bit southwest, hits the island a little further south than where it was originally headed, and then almost rides up along the island as it resumes its previous northwest trajectory.

God bless those people.
