July 22nd - 24th Slight Risk Weekend Thunderstorms & Temps Obs

Recommended Posts

Heavy rain, rumbles, no wind.  Should think that'll be most of it here, line meh-ed out as it got here,  which is fine, don't want trees down anyway!

Big winds over Norristown on TPHL.

Looks like gust fronts are going to merge somewhere pretty close to far northwest Philly.  Clouds are ominous looking already here.

Winds getting stronger near Coatesville, and a strong/severe

storm has formed in Cecil county west of Rising Sun.

That is one impressive hail core on that cell near Bel Air, MD.  Even better hail signature on the cell north of Philly.  Would not be surprised to see quarter-size in that.

Picked two dozen Asian Pears before incoming line and Gus's hit man squirrel ate the rest.

2.12" appears to be the cut off for tonight's total. Tropical down pours stopped as quickly as it started. Sump pump running and the normally dry creek bed has some nice rapids in my back yard.

Ended up with another 0.50" here in East Nantmeal bringing our total today to an even 1.0". We are now 0.26" above normal rainfall for the year. MTD we are at 5.79" - normal (1983-Present) Chester County rainfall in July is 4.81". So an interesting factoid - 2017 will make 4 of the last 5 July's with above normal rainfall and 2015 only missed normal by 0.11"

That makes 2.02" for today in downtown West Chester, adding to yesterday's 1.53" for total of 3.55".  Nice!

Lots of heat lightning and light to heavy to light rain in Middletown.

One of these years, I gotta get a wx station with a rain guage...

Awesome storm In delco. Big downpours, marginal winds AOA30mph, and continuous lightning. First good storm of severe season. Thought maybe the Montgo cell outflow would disrupt the delco cell. Not too shabby though.
