OBS- Monday June 19th Severe Weather/Flash Flood Threat - Enhanced Severe Risk/I95 Flash Flood Watch

Recommended Posts

Most of Bucks County in a zone of protection, with severe wind reports in almost every compass direction from where I sat in Newtown experiencing nothing but straight vertical rain, one or two claps of thunder, and barely a gust of wind. After a completely dead storm chasing vacation out to the Plains a couple weeks ago, this has me really starting to hate the weather and looking for a new hobby.

I just returned from a twelve day vacation to the west coast. We knew about the thunderstorms that hit on the 19th. We sat around the San Diego airport trying to follow the storms that were due to hit later in the day. Our flight was delayed four hours, taking off just after 2 PM PDT. We made up an hour flying east.

I measured 1.91 inches of rain in my gage for the period that I was away. Have no clue how much of that rain fell yesterday. Some tree limbs down.

They have not had a great year, but the Storm Prediction Center did a good job with this event.

The ENH corridor was placed perfectly and with the right threat hazard.  They also mentioned

that a short-lived tornado or two was possible.  The CWA had 2 tornadoes on the same day for

only the 2nd time in the last 8 years.  Many counties had at least some version of wind damage.

Warning Breakdown: SVR-22 FFW-3 TOR-1.  While the event did not overperform, it certainly

didn't underperform either.  Not every event will be a 6/23/15 in everyone's yard.  If anything, its

better that an MCS does not form and maximize intensity in less than an hour's time frame right

over the Delaware Valley.

Or June 29-30, 2012.  Both those days went by very fast.
