slightly off-topic, but it's fascinating zooming in on SE PA and S NJ this AM on Wundermap this morning. Radiational cooling has 10+ temp differences across short distances. It's definitely a good sign to see surface temps in the single digits prior to a storm approaching.

  11. Postmortem - Modeling/Snow Maps/Communication

    1) Yes, greater resolution and improved parameterization will help somewhat. Hopefully improved satellite data could help as well, but I'm not sure if there's a plateau where more obs won't help because of the resolution threshold of satellites. Maybe incorporating more non-standard observations will help (iot, etc)? Of course QC would be an issue with that. More REAL upper-level obs would help, but how much more data could we get without soundings? Me <--- not an expert on this, but would love to hear your thoughts. 2) Agree, but I still love the hell out of them. 3) Unsure on this one
  12. 3/13/17 - 3/15/17 OBS : Rocky III The Final Knock Out Punch?

  14. 3/13/17 - 3/15/17 OBS : Rocky III The Final Knock Out Punch?

Sleet is a pita to cleanup. I recall a 4-5" sleet storm I believe 2009/2010 winter which even an ice pick couldn't get through.
