Perhaps I will camp out along I-95 along-side PHL airport and measure the snow myself.

As of 1 PM, snow total for PHL is 2.3 inches.

Nice snowy am. Round 1 could be the biggest snow of the year here,

I feel like tradition on weather boards has been to... a) say Radar looks awful before things get underway b) freak out when the back edge appears to be racing toward the area I prefer super weenie desperation Radar for events like this...

Looks like it by the numbers, but also for the combined impacts of snow, sleet and freezing rain.

Speaking of snowblowers...had mine taken in and found out it was basically a goner (unless I wanted to pump 2/3 the value of the snowblower into it. So I'm going to roll the dice on not needing one for awhile. Probably a safe bet (jinx, hopefully). It was a hand me down from my father in law (a 94' John Deere TRS 22) so it lived a good life.

One of the things I look for in the gefs snowfall maps is dispersion. Where is the snowfall. That can give you big hints about upcoming patterns. A very positive sign younsee here is the southern snowfall look. That’s indicitive of cold air/boundary to our south.

euro now brings some snow into the area this weekend with that system. Went to the ukmet idea. Northern stream cleared the area, HP built in and wave of low pressure came up. not a ton of qpf right now, but that def trended favorable. Solid 50/50 low over canada

The GFS really had hardly any warm nose at all. Well not it's finest hour with phase 1 (no phase 1 snow at PHL 00z/10th run), so good luck with that for Phase 2.
  23. 2 points
Thats because the nam is aggressive with a warm nose around 700mb

There will be more tonight; the bigger cash in tonight should be northwest, at least that is what Chris told me to post. BTW PHL changed to 2.0" thru 7am.

Not too far down the road from you in West Deptford I measured 2.25” around 7am before I left for work. We probably accumulated a few tenths more since then, but not sure.

Definitely a bit of an overachiever. Just went out and measured. Right at 3.0". Still coming down at a good clip and radar looks like it'll continue for a good while longer.

I’m sure...haven’t measured but this is the scene in National Park NJ directly across from the airport...no grass sticking through, usually a good guess metric for 2” threshold

He drank to much vino last night... nice, Airport should come in with 2" atleast whenever they release new pns statement.
  32. 2 points
Probably around 3" here just estimating. Still snowing for now, but I see that sleet/freezing rain line creeping up. EDIT* I'm talking about Mays Landing, NJ.

Snow would slow the progression of warmer air because it will fight temperatures rising above freezing. In the round two scenario though the warm air is coming in at 5,000 feet and above. So the slow down is not going to be as much. But it would hold temperatures down which increases the chances for freezing rain (looks more likely northwest of Mount Laurel) and retaining what snow there is. Sometimes warm air comes in closer to the ground, in that scenario even more snow would fall.

Wow....can’t believe people actually think this. Simmons had a bad game, but he played tremendous defense, actually attempted a legit 3 for like the first time in career, and tried to take some mid range as...weak link? You must not follow b-ball that closely if you think Ben Simmons is our weak link. Also, seen some talk about how he missed the shots today, but if he doesn’t take them they blast him for not taking them, so which one is it? Ben brings so many intangibles to the 76ers to say he’s our weak spot is a joke. Hes in his second year as a player. Tobias Harris rode the bench his first year and didn’t develop into a legit star until recently. Jimmy Butler averaged 13ppg in his 3rd season playing 38mpg. Ben Simmons is averaging 17 9 & 8 in his second season he’d be a damn junior in college if he stayed at school. His FT% is up slightly this season, and over last bunch of games he’s been shooting it really well. He’s able to do all of this without a freaking jumper. The fact that he shot a bunch today shows how much he is working on it. i swear, this town can have some ungrateful fans....

Back home now - light but steady snow - starting to stick on the shoveled area of the deck and slush up on the driveway and side walk again. We shall see what this evening and tonight brings. Awesome wintry day today though.

I guess the omega avoided the snow growth area too the way lil'Gigi avoided round 1.

Tough call as drier air tries to push down into the area as round 2 arrives. Your area obviously appears first in line to get into the main slug of precipitation late afternoon or (more likely?) evening depending on how things play out. It will be interesting to see if temps rebound and climb into the mid-30s with a potential lull Monday. That’d help in terms of road conditions til likely after sundown again.
