South Branch Raritan River, Raritan Twsp, Hunterdon County NJ. In her frozen elegance. I do ice observations for Mt. Holly. Yesterday at 4 PM, no ice. She froze overnight, perhaps a flash freeze? These photos taken at 3:30 PM today. This round of ice will only last into tomorrow. More will come. She sure is pretty. :smileys-snowman-924988:

Will travel for winter pics...

Lucked out with just enough cold air for light snowfalls during my time up in the Finger Lakes just after Christmas. A beautiful place to visit year round. Pictures are from the Watkins Glen area on the south end of Senaca Lake.

I follow Yellowstone Park on Facebook. They have some amazing winter photos this year. Saw this post of the Lower Falls. Very cool!

Not every formation in the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone is changing on a geologic timescale. The ephemeral ice dam at the base of the 308 ft Lower Falls forms every winter and can grow to over 100 feet tall. Feel free to add seeing it to your "Reasons why I need to visit Yellowstone in the Winter" list.

This from our friends downunder, Australia that is. Where it is summer and bush fire season. I thought that this video of a fire whirl (and explanation) will be of interest: fire whirl

Picked my daughter up at Swarthmore on Friday. While we were waiting, we took a walk through Crum woods. Flowers were popping already.
